The Deanship of Student Affairs at the University of Sharjah is hosting the International Art Camp 2025, in collaboration with UNESCO and the Andorran National Commission for UNESCO.
This prestigious event is organized upon an official request from UNESCO, reaffirming its confidence in the University of Sharjah’s ability to successfully organize this global artistic initiative. The camp underscores the university’s leadership as a hub for artistic and cultural innovation on the international stage. We would be honored if the UAE National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science would accept to be part of this significant event, further strengthening its impact and fostering greater cultural exchange.
Objectives of the Art Camp To foster artistic and human connection among participants. To bring together 22 distinguished international artists representing various nationalities and cultures. To support UNESCO’s mission, aligned with the UAE’s vision of promoting tolerance, brotherhood, and peace through art. To help students connect with international artists and learn from diverse cultural and artistic backgrounds.
Providing of participants: Hotel accommodations for participants. Provision of art tools and materials for workshops. Preparations for the final art exhibition and closing ceremony. Art Workshops The participating artists will produce 45 artworks during workshops held at the Deanship of Student Affairs. These artworks will be displayed in the final exhibition. Ten students from the College of Fine Arts and Design will join the workshops under the supervision of Dr. Karima Al Shomali, a faculty member of the College of Fine Arts and Design. They will collaborate on a sculpture that symbolizes peace. Event Schedule The camp will be held from January 20 to January 30, 2025. Workshops will take place over nine consecutive days at the Deanship of Student Affairs. The camp will conclude on the tenth day with a final art exhibition and an artist recognition ceremony at the College of Fine Arts and Design. Media Coverage .
The camp will receive extensive media coverage through: Broadcast, print, and digital media platforms. Social media platforms. Invitations to major artistic and cultural organizations to promote the event, such as the Sharjah Art Foundation, Emirates Fine Arts Society, Ministry of Tolerance, and Ministry of Culture.
Guest of Honor: The guest of honor for the camp will be renowned British artist Sacha Jafri, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and a prominent figure in humanitarian art. Sacha Jafri will conduct a special workshop for university students. He will be honored during the closing ceremony in recognition of his outstanding artistic and humanitarian contributions.
